Certification Linux Essentials

Linux Essentials is an LPI certificate introducing Linux and open source fundamentals. It provides a starting point for understanding system components, open source software and initial command-line tasks. It is relevant to people who want to become familiar with this environment before moving towards a more extensive administration pathway.

Learning can be organised around simple actions: navigating directories, reading a file, recognising a user account and understanding a permission. These exercises build the vocabulary needed to read documentation and investigate straightforward problems. Step-by-step learning is more useful than collecting commands without understanding their context. Linux Essentials should not be confused with LPIC-1, which addresses a broader administration skill set.
