A health, safety and environment (HSE) manager coordinates efforts to prevent harm to people and reduce environmental impacts from an organisation's activities. The role involves identifying risks, supporting operational teams and following agreed prevention measures. It connects policies with working practices and requires cooperation with the people who understand the tasks and conditions on site.

Effective HSE coordination relies on clear responsibilities, useful records and the follow-up of incidents and observations. Managers help teams analyse causes, prioritise actions and check whether improvements are effective. Communication and awareness activities support participation, but they do not replace appropriate controls or specialist advice where required.
