Implement analytics solutions with Microsoft Fabric (DP-600)
Business analytics need a consistent data environment. With Microsoft Fabric, connect preparation, modelling and presentation to build appropriate analytics solutions. Strengthen your ability to organise processing and make results usable by your teams.
- Duration
- 4 days 28 hours
- Code
- DP-600 Code
- Certification
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate Certification
Accredited training for the Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification.
Presentation
Microsoft Fabric unifies data ingestion, preparation, modelling and visualisation in a single analytics platform. Designing robust solutions requires cross-functional expertise in data engineering, semantic modelling and governance best practices.
This 4-day course provides the skills to prepare and serve data in lakehouses and data warehouses. You will learn to implement and optimise semantic models with DAX and Direct Lake. You will also learn to maintain an end-to-end data analytics solution, covering security, governance, version control and deployment pipelines.
By the end of the programme, you will be ready to take the DP-600 examination included in our offer. Passing it earns you Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification (see the Certification tab for details).
Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Implement Microsoft Fabric security and governance at workspace, item, row, column and file levels;
- Maintain an analytics solution lifecycle: Git version control, deployment pipelines and .pbip projects;
- Monitor Fabric items and manage capacity consumption;
- Ingest and transform data with Dataflows Gen2, notebooks and pipelines;
- Design and implement an appropriate data model (lakehouse or data warehouse, star schema);
- Optimise data solution performance using partitioning, incremental refresh and Delta tables;
- Design and build semantic models with DAX measures;
- Optimise enterprise-scale semantic models using calculation groups, composite models and Direct Lake;
- Explore and analyse data with Power BI and Copilot;
- Pass DP-600 and earn Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification.
Program
Module 1: maintain a data analytics solution
- Configuring workspace-, item-, row-, column-, object- and file-level security.
- Applying sensitivity labels to Fabric items.
- Implementing Git version control and managing .pbip projects.
- Configuring and managing deployment pipelines between environments.
- Monitoring Fabric items and capacity consumption.
- Configuring the XMLA endpoint for remote administration.
Lab
- Configure row-level security for a semantic model and establish a deployment pipeline.
Module 2: prepare data
- Choosing between a lakehouse and a data warehouse for the business scenario.
- Ingesting data with Dataflows Gen2, data pipelines and shortcuts.
- Transforming data with PySpark notebooks and T-SQL queries.
- Designing a star schema and managing Delta tables.
- Optimising performance: partitioning, incremental refresh and V-Order.
- Resolving common data ingestion and transformation issues.
Lab
- Ingest data into a lakehouse with a Gen2 dataflow and transform it with a PySpark notebook.
Module 3: implement and manage semantic models
- Designing and building semantic models: storage modes, relationships and DAX measures.
- Optimising enterprise-scale semantic models: calculation groups and composite models.
- Implementing and optimising Direct Lake.
- Analysing semantic model performance and resolving bottlenecks.
- Exploring and analysing data with Power BI and Microsoft Copilot.
Lab
- Create a Direct Lake semantic model with DAX measures and optimise it for large-scale use.
