Presentation
In a complex environment, risk management is key to infrastructure performance and resilience. Technical, operational, human and environmental risks must be anticipated to reduce incidents and ensure compliance with requirements such as ISO 31000 and ISO 45001.
This 3-day course provides an operational guide to deploying a risk management approach. You will learn to identify hazards and apply recognised assessment methods, including FMECA, HAZOP and criticality matrices, to establish priorities.
The aim is to enable you to build a prevention plan and a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). You will leave with practical tools, including dashboards and checklists, to manage continuous improvement, handle emergencies and strengthen organisational resilience.
Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- identify and classify technical, operational, human and environmental risks, and understand the standards framework, including ISO 31000, ISO 45001 and ISO 22301;
- apply risk analysis and assessment methods, including audits, FMECA and HAZOP, and prioritise risks using criticality matrices;
- develop a complete prevention plan and Business Continuity Plan for major operational risks, including fire, electrical and environmental risks;
- implement a performance monitoring system using indicators, dashboards and lessons learned, and a PDCA-based approach to continuous improvement in risk management.
Program
Module 1: Understanding the risk management framework
- Definitions and risk types, including technical, human and environmental risks.
- Analysing the regulatory framework and key standards: ISO 31000, ISO 45001 and ISO 22301.
- Understanding the challenges for critical and strategic infrastructure.
Module 2: Identifying and assessing risks with FMECA and HAZOP
- Applying identification tools and methods, including inspections, lessons learned and audits.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment.
- Using criticality matrices to prioritise risks.
Module 3: Defining the prevention and control plan
- Developing the prevention plan.
- Managing major operational risks: fire, electrical, mechanical and environmental.
- Defining safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Module 4: Structuring the Business Continuity Plan under ISO 22301
- Distinguishing crisis management, prevention plans and Business Continuity Plans.
- Key steps for designing and writing an effective BCP.
- Connecting the BCP with risk analysis and Business Impact Analysis (BIA).
Module 5: Managing continuous improvement with PDCA
- Building dashboards and key performance indicators.
- Conducting internal audits and facilitating lessons-learned reviews.
- Integrating continuous improvement through PDCA and lean risk management.
Module 6: Practical application
Hands-on exercises
- Develop a criticality-based risk matrix for a given infrastructure.
- Design a short Business Continuity Plan for a site.
Case study
- Analyse a real accident or incident and define a corrective action plan.
Audience
This course is intended for professionals responsible for infrastructure safety, compliance and resilience, including:
- HSE, QHSE and risk managers structuring prevention and ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 31000;
- facilities and infrastructure managers overseeing safety and maintenance at service-sector or industrial sites;
- maintenance, operations and safety managers managing critical facilities and implementing prevention plans;
- engineers and technicians involved in facility management and risk analyses such as FMECA and HAZOP.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites apply:
- Professional experience: no mandatory experience is required. Initial experience in maintenance, operations, safety or HSE is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge: sufficient French reading, writing and comprehension skills are required to follow the modules effectively and participate in workshops.
