Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Analyst v4.0 (CTAL-TA)

Accredited training for the Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Analyst v4.0 (CTAL-TA) certification.

Presentation

A test analyst masters current methodologies and appropriate tools to conduct effective testing projects. They can plan test activities, critically assess risks, design and execute functional tests, and collect and analyse data to improve software quality.

Our ISTQB CTAL-TA v4.0 course focuses on essential test analysis and design skills. You will explore key topics: testing context, test case design, quality criteria, formal reviews, defect detection and analysis-focused automation tools. The program follows the latest ISTQB 2024 syllabus, ensuring alignment with current certification requirements and professional good practices.

Over these 4 days, you will measure progress through hands-on exercises and case studies to prepare effectively for the official Advanced Test Analyst certification exam (see the Certification tab for details).

  • select an appropriate level of test scenario design, high-level or low-level, for the project context;
  • conduct risk analysis and propose appropriate mitigation measures for a given context;
  • examine specification criteria and design test cases using equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, state transitions and pairwise testing;
  • master and apply testing techniques based on classification tree models;
  • analyse a system or its technical specifications to identify potential defect types and select appropriate black-box testing methods;
  • explain exploratory testing principles and compare their benefits and limitations with black-box testing;
  • describe defect-based testing principles and compare them with black-box testing;
  • choose between black-box and exploratory testing for a specific situation;
  • identify recurring defects to correct for functional quality, compliance and suitability;
  • list procedures for checking compliance with usability and user satisfaction requirements;
  • describe the test analyst's role in compatibility and portability testing;
  • determine test requirements for checking functional or non-functional quality criteria for given characteristics;
  • identify shortcomings in specifications or a user experience using a syllabus-based checklist;
  • define test analyst tasks in a keyword-driven automation project based on an established model;
