Presentation

Junos is the operating system developed by Juniper Networks, supporting a wide range of tools and applications for advanced, high-performance network deployment. This course teaches you to manage routing and configuration in Junos OS.

Objectives

This course develops your routing and configuration skills in Junos OS. You will study protocol-independent routing, load balancing, filter-based forwarding, OSPF, BGP, IP tunnelling and high availability settings. The course combines theory and practical labs to build your proficiency in configuring and monitoring Junos OS and its devices.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the uses of static, aggregate and generated routes.
  • Configure and monitor static, aggregate and generated routes.
  • Understand martian routes and add entries to the default list.
  • Describe the uses of routing instances.
  • Configure and share routes between routing instances.
  • Understand load balancing concepts and operations.
  • Implement and monitor Layer 3 load balancing.
  • Understand the benefits of filter-based forwarding.
  • Configure and monitor filter-based forwarding.
  • Explain Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) operations.
  • Describe the role of a designated router.
  • List and describe OSPF area types.
  • Configure, monitor and troubleshoot OSPF.
  • Describe Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and its basic operations.
  • Identify and describe common BGP attributes.
  • List the steps in the BGP route selection algorithm.
  • Describe BGP peering options and default routing policies.
  • Configure and monitor BGP.
  • Describe IP tunnelling concepts and applications.
  • Explain the basic operation of IP-over-IP (IP-IP) tunnels and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE).
  • Describe the various Junos OS high availability settings.
  • Configure and monitor high availability settings.
