The Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) training is the first step for anyone who wants to excel in agile project management. It provides an introduction to the principles and practices of Scrum and equips you with the skills needed to become an effective Scrum Master.

Through this 3-day PSM I program, you will gain a foundational understanding of the Scrum framework, its roles, events, and artifacts. In addition, you will learn how to apply Scrum values and principles to optimize teamwork, improve productivity, and deliver high-quality products.

At the end of the training, you will also be prepared to take the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification exam. This assessment validates your fundamental knowledge of the Scrum methodology, and the certification opens opportunities to become a Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, Agile Coach, or Agile Delivery Manager (see more in the Certification tab).

 

Targets

By the end of the Scrum PSM I training, you will be able to:

  • Understand the concept and fundamental principles of the Scrum framework (roles, events, artifacts, tools, etc.) and its empirical approach.
  • Grasp the notions of uncertainty and complexity in product delivery.
  • Understand the meaning and importance of the Scrum values.
  • Understand the significance and importance of the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Use the Product Backlog to plan with agility.
  • Recognize the importance of self-management within the team, the required interpersonal skills, and the role of the Scrum Master.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Attending this Scrum Training

  • Reading the Scrum Guide™ – Participants should have read and familiarized themselves with the official Scrum Guide™.
  • Basic knowledge of Agile principles – A foundational understanding of Agile principles or iterative and incremental development is recommended.
  • English proficiency – Ability to read and understand English is required in order to take the certification exam and study the official documentation.

Issued by Scrum.org, this certification validates your fundamental knowledge of Scrum as described in the Scrum Guide, as well as your ability to apply it effectively within Scrum Teams.

Exam format (Scrum PSM I):

  • Type: Online exam
  • Language: English only (the exam may be taken on the last day of the training or later).
  • Number of questions: 80
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Passing score: 85% (minimum of 51 correct answers out of 80).

*Note: The exam can be taken in other languages, including French, using the Google Translate tool.

Upon successfully passing the exam, you will receive the Professional Scrum Master™ (PSM I) certification, which is valid for life, along with a digital badge that can be showcased as proof of your achievement. Additionally, your professional profile will be listed on Scrum.org, ensuring the authenticity of your certification.
