Presentation
In a digital environment where cyberattacks are becoming the norm, organisations need a common language and proven methodology to identify and mitigate risk. The NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) has become a global reference for an agile, resilient security strategy aligned with business objectives.
This 2-day course provides an in-depth understanding of NIST's fundamental principles. Explore the framework's key components, the Core, Tiers and Profiles, and learn how the 5 key functions—Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover—work together to strengthen organisational security.
By the end, you will understand essential NIST CSF concepts and be able to contribute actively to cyber risk management. You will also be prepared to take the PECB NIST Cybersecurity Foundation certification examination, validating your knowledge of this international framework (see the Certification tab for details).

Module 1: Understanding cybersecurity concepts and NIST
- Participant introductions:

- Cybersecurity challenges, threats and fundamental terminology.

- Relationships between NIST frameworks (NIST 800-12, NIST 800-53, NIST RMF, NIST 800-171 and NIST CSF) and other international standards such as ISO 27001 and COBIT.
Module 2: Mastering the NIST Cybersecurity Framework's core components
- Analysing the Core: the 5 key functions and their categories.
- Studying Implementation Tiers to assess risk management maturity.
- Understanding Framework Profiles to align security with business needs.
- Identifying resources and Informative References cited by NIST.
Module 3: Implementing and managing the framework
- The 7-step process for creating or improving a cybersecurity programme.
- Using the framework to communicate cybersecurity risks to stakeholders.
- Applying the framework to supply chain risk management.
- Tools and document templates for managing compliance.
Module 4: Preparing for the PECB NIST Cybersecurity Foundation examination
- Reviewing key concepts and competencies acquired throughout the course.

Prerequisites
