To progress to a fully operational system administrator role, managing complex configurations is essential. In production environments, the challenge is not simply making things work, but ensuring the security, scalability and automation of critical system resources.
This Red Hat System Administration II course is the second stage towards Linux expertise on version 10.0. It deepens your knowledge through advanced concepts such as LVM storage management and SELinux security. You will also explore Kickstart automation and container management with Podman. The focus is on solving real problems to ensure reliable, high-performing infrastructure.
By the end of this intensive course, you will have the skills to deploy robust Linux infrastructures to industry standards. You will also have completed the full curriculum required to successfully take the official Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification exam (see the Certification tab for details).

By the end of this Red Hat System Administration II course, you will be able to:

- manage complex storage using partitions, swap space and logical volumes (LVM);
- secure systems in depth through detailed SELinux and system firewall configuration;

Module 1: automating tasks with shell scripting and scheduling
- Write and execute simple shell scripts to automate repetitive command sequences.
- Use regular expressions to process and filter text data streams efficiently.

- Develop administration scripts and automate preventive server maintenance through system scheduling.
Module 2: managing logical storage, archiving and performance
- Administer storage devices, partitions, filesystems and swap space.
- Implement logical volumes using LVM (Logical Volume Manager) for flexible management.
- Create compressed archives to facilitate backups and secure transfers.
- Optimise system performance by applying appropriate tuning profiles.

- Dynamically extend an LVM volume and secure critical archive transfers across the local network.
Module 3: securing network services and shared storage access
- Strengthen system and file security using SELinux policies.
- Filter network connections to application services through the system firewall.
- Securely access remote network storage through NFS.
- Automate mounting of remote resources using the automounter.

- Diagnose SELinux blocks and configure persistent, secure access to NFS infrastructure.
Module 4: deploying scalable environments and administering containers
- Automate Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation with Kickstart files.
- Manage container and image lifecycles using Podman tools.
- Use image mode to simplify deployment and updates.
- Orchestrate automatic startup of containerised services.

- Standardise server deployment through Kickstart and manage a microservices application isolated in a container.
Module 5: troubleshooting the boot process and validating learning
- Master system startup to control services and repair critical errors.
- Recover administrative privileges (root access) following a lost password.
- Conduct a complete skills assessment to validate advanced administration proficiency.

Repair a complex boot failure and validate the full technical foundation required for the RHCSA exam.
