Presentation

The AML/CFT framework is a regulatory framework introduced by the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance, also known in the European Union since 2018 as the Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

It comprises measures, procedures and control mechanisms applied by financial authorities and regulatory bodies. AML/CFT aims to detect, prevent and combat fraudulent transactions involving the movement of capital, particularly funds intended to finance terrorist or criminal activities.

This AML/CFT course explores the framework's key issues, including the distinction between money laundering and terrorist financing, financial institutions' regulatory obligations and associated risks.

It then focuses on analysing unusual transactions in customer accounts and alert follow-up procedures, including enhanced investigation and the four-eyes principle. Finally, it covers the principles and obligations of suspicious transaction reporting, including how to draft a report and the key information to include.
