Security Alert : identity spoofing using the Oo2 name
We have been informed of fraudulent attempts using the name of Oo2 (emails, phone calls, or messages) to deceive clients and partners.
Our priority is to help you identify these messages and respond appropriately.
1) What is this about?
Spoofing is an impersonation technique in which a fraudster uses a sender name or identity that closely resembles a legitimate company (Oo2) in order to prompt you to:
- click on a link,
- provide information (codes, passwords),
- make a payment.
2) How to recognize a suspicious message?
Be particularly vigilant if you notice:
- a sense of urgency (“immediate payment”, “account blocked”, “final reminder”),
- unusual requests (bank transfer, bank details, gift card purchases, unexpected “fees”),
- an unusual tone, spelling mistakes, or psychological pressure,
- a link redirecting to a website with a strange or unfamiliar address,
- a request for sensitive information.
3) What Oo2 will never ask you
For your security, please remember these simple rules:
Oo2 will never ask you for:
- your password,
- verification codes (SMS / MFA / authentication codes),
- sensitive banking information via email or SMS,
- an urgent payment or “exceptional” transfer without a clear and verifiable process,
- to install software or grant remote access to your computer upon request.
4) What to do if you receive a suspicious message?
- Do not click on links or open suspicious attachments.
- Do not reply to the message or call the indicated number if it seems suspicious.
- Verify the information through our official channels (Oo2 website, usual phone number, known email addresses).
Forward the suspicious message to us for verification:
Reporting email: support@oo2.fr
Recommended subject line: [Spoofing report] + date
Ideally, include a screenshot and the full email headers if possible.- Then, delete the message.
5) If you have clicked or shared information
If you believe you have interacted with a fraudulent message:
- Immediately change your passwords (especially those reused elsewhere).
- Enable or strengthen multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- If you have shared payment information, contact your bank without delay.
- On a computer: run an antivirus scan, and if any software was installed, have your device checked.
6) Actions currently underway
Oo2 takes this matter very seriously. We are actively working to:
- strengthen anti-spoofing protections (email authentication, monitoring),
- analyze reported incidents,
- inform our clients and partners through our official channels.
