Certification ISO/IEC 42001: Artificial intelligence management

ISO/IEC 42001 specifies requirements for an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS). It helps an organisation structure responsibilities, risk assessment and improvement across the AI activities within its defined scope.

The standard and professional certification pathways are different things. ISO publishes the standard; organisations such as PECB offer learning and individual qualifications relating to its implementation or auditing. An individual training certificate does not certify the employer’s management system.

Preparation can help managers, risk professionals and technical teams connect AI policy with lifecycle controls, evidence and review. A useful exercise is to follow an AI use case from its purpose and data assumptions through deployment and monitoring.

Responsible AI governance requires continuing oversight. Neither a course nor management system certification guarantees that every model output is safe, fair or legally compliant. Check the selected pathway and its assessment requirements with OO2 before enrolment.
