Presentation
Creating a simple conversational agent is no longer enough: organisations now expect AI agents that integrate deeply with existing systems, orchestrate complex workflows and collaborate with one another. Copilot Studio meets this need by combining a low-code approach with advanced extensibility and automation capabilities.
This 3-day course develops the skills needed to design complete agent solutions. You will learn to plan and configure agents, integrate and extend them using connectors, MCP and Agent2Agent (A2A) protocols, Power Automate and Microsoft Foundry, and test and manage them in real-world conditions.
By the end of the course, you will be ready to take AB-620, included in our offer. Passing it earns you Microsoft 365 Certified: AI Agent Builder Associate certification (see the Certification tab for details).
Objectives
By the end of this Microsoft Copilot course, you will be able to:
- plan an agent solution suited to a business scenario;
- configure an agent's core components: instructions, topics, triggers and knowledge sources;
- integrate an agent with data sources and external systems through connectors;
- extend an agent with Power Automate to automate complex tasks;
- implement communication between agents using Agent2Agent (A2A) and Model Context Protocol (MCP);
- publish an agent to appropriate channels, including Teams, websites and applications;
- test, debug and monitor an agent's behaviour;
- manage an agent's lifecycle, including governance and security;
- pass AB-620 and earn Microsoft 365 Certified: AI Agent Builder Associate certification.
Program
Module 1: plan and configure an agent solution
- Planning an agent architecture suited to a business scenario.
- Configuring topics, agent flows and generative responses.
- Using adaptive cards and custom prompts with the Foundry model catalogue.
- Working with Dataverse tables, columns and relationships, and Power Fx expressions.
- Managing environments, solutions and application lifecycle management (ALM): environment variables and Power Platform pipelines.
Lab
- Plan and configure an initial agent with topics, flows and an adaptive card.
Module 2: integrate and extend agents in Copilot Studio
- Grounding an agent in real organisational data, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with Azure AI Search.
- Adding tools to an agent: custom connectors, REST APIs and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.
- Configuring computer use so an agent can act on the user's behalf.
- Orchestrating multiple agents with the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol.
- Extending an agent with Power Automate to automate complex tasks.
Lab
- Build an agent grounded through RAG, integrate a REST API tool and orchestrate a second agent through A2A.
Module 3: test and manage agents
- Testing agent flows and handling errors.
- Debugging and diagnosing agent behaviour.
- Publishing an agent to appropriate channels: Teams, websites and applications.
- Monitoring, governing and securing an agent in production.
- Managing an agent's lifecycle from creation to retirement.
Lab
- Test an agent with error handling, publish it to Teams and configure monitoring.

Prerequisites
The following prerequisites apply:
- Practical experience: 6 to 12 months of hands-on Copilot Studio experience is recommended.
- Technical skills: knowledge of Power Fx expressions and Microsoft Dataverse tables and relationships.
- Generative AI knowledge: an intermediate understanding of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
- Additional skills: familiarity with REST APIs and Power Platform environments.
Good to know: if you are new to Copilot Studio, we recommend first taking Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals (AB-900).
