ISO 21001 defines management methods and tools for organisations providing education and training products and services. It aims to help them meet learners' needs and expectations. Based on ISO 9001, it provides a framework to facilitate educational processes through an educational organisation management system (EOMS) tailored to this sector.
The ISO 21001 Lead Auditor course develops the technical skills needed to audit a management system for educational organisations (EOMS). Over 5 days, you will master audit planning, programme management and delivery for internal and external audits in accordance with ISO 19011 and the ISO/IEC 17021-1 certification process. You will learn to apply modern audit principles, procedures and techniques.
Once you have acquired sufficient expertise to conduct these audits, you will take the official ISO 21001 Lead Auditor exam, enabling you to earn the PECB Certified ISO 21001 Lead Auditor credential.
Objectives
By the end of the PECB ISO 21001 Lead Auditor course, you will achieve the following objectives:
- master how an educational organisation management system (EOMS) operates in accordance with ISO 21001;
- understand the relationship between ISO 21001, ISO 9001 and other standards and frameworks;
- master the auditor's activities in planning, leading and following up a management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011;
- understand ISO 21001 requirements in the context of an EOMS audit;
- pass the ISO 21001 Lead Auditor exam and earn PECB Certified ISO 21001 Lead Auditor certification.

Prerequisites
The ISO 21001 Lead Auditor course has the following prerequisites:
- knowledge of ISO 21001 fundamentals and advanced auditing principles;
- good English proficiency, as the course materials are available in English only.
Certification
The PECB Certified ISO 21001 Lead Auditor exam taken at the end of the course meets PECB's examination and certification programme requirements. It covers the following competency domains:
- educational organisation management system (EOMS) processes;
- fundamental audit concepts and principles;
- preparing, conducting and closing an ISO 21001 audit.
You have 3 hours to complete the ISO 21001 Lead Auditor exam, available in French and English. After passing and meeting the requirements, you can apply for one of the following certifications:
- PECB Certified ISO 21001 Provisional Auditor: no experience required; signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
- PECB Certified ISO 21001 Auditor: 2 years of professional experience, including 1 year in educational organisations; 200 hours of audit activities; signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
- PECB Certified ISO 21001 Lead Auditor: 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years in educational organisations; 300 hours of audit activities; signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
- PECB Certified ISO 21001 Senior Lead Auditor: 10 years of professional experience, including 7 years in educational organisations; 1,000 hours of audit activities; signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
