Presentation
The purpose of an information security management system (ISMS) is to implement measures that reduce and eliminate various threats within an organisation, supporting business continuity, information asset protection and customer confidence. ISO 27001:2022 sets out requirements covering organisational and technical good practices and controls to ensure the ISMS is appropriate. The aim is to enable an organisation to manage information-related risks effectively.
The ISO 27001 Foundation course will demonstrate your command of the fundamentals of implementing and managing an information security management system under ISO 27001:2022. The course reviews the various components of an ISMS, including ISMS policy, procedures, performance measurement, management commitment, internal audit, management review and continual improvement.
At the end of the course, you will take a one-hour exam to work towards PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation certification, demonstrating your knowledge of the basic methods, standard requirements, framework and management approach.
Objectives
By the end of the ISO 27001 Foundation course, you will achieve the following objectives:
- understand the principles, processes and operation of an information security management system;
- understand the relationships between ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27002:2022 and other standards and regulatory frameworks;
- master the techniques, methods and practices associated with implementing an ISMS;
- pass the ISO 27001 Foundation exam and obtain your PECB Certified ISO 27001 Foundation credential.

Program
Day 1: fundamentals
- Introduction to information security management system (ISMS) concepts as defined by ISO 27001:2022.
Day 2: requirements
- Implementing information security controls in accordance with ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27002:2022.
Final half-day:
- Take the ISO 27001 Foundation certification exam (duration: 1 hour).
