This 3-day course helps you master these complex processes, supporting efficient equipment movements while respecting regulatory frameworks. You will learn to optimise planning and execution for complete operational visibility, which is essential to performance in the mining sector.
This intensive programme begins with operational preparation, including validating terms and assessing transport requirements. You will also learn to manage requests for quotation effectively and select suppliers using cost and quality criteria. The final sessions cover on-site execution, from customs clearance to reporting, including compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
By the end of the course, you will have developed operational expertise in managing mobilisation and demobilisation projects. These skills will help you become a key contributor to logistics optimisation and mining operational safety, directly supporting your organisation's efficiency and compliance.
Objectives
By the end of this mining logistics course, you will be able to:

Program
Module 1: preparing mobilisation and demobilisation
- Preparing and validating operating conditions for mobilisation and demobilisation.
- Identifying the destination and current location of each item of equipment.
- Assessing required delivery times and establishing the associated budget.
- Assessing specific transport equipment requirements and types, along with customs and administrative procedures.
- Identifying suppliers suited to the project's specific needs.
- Establishing the management team dedicated to these operations.
Module 2: managing the request for quotation (RFQ)
- Preparing a detailed request for quotation (RFQ).
- Sending the RFQ to potential suppliers.
- Rigorously comparing quotations on a like-for-like basis and validating the suppliers selected for the project.
Module 3: preparing the supplier
- Selecting at least 2 suppliers based on criteria such as price, availability and equipment quality, as well as their ability to operate to HSSE standards.
- Thoroughly checking transport trucks and the convoy team.
- Preparing JMP documents (Job Hazard Analysis/Method Statement) and planning each convoy in detail.
- Developing the reporting dashboard to monitor operations.
Module 4: executing operations
- Providing the supplier with all required documents.
- Continuously updating the monitoring dashboard.
- Clearing equipment through customs for export and import.
- Starting operations, including truck inspections, equipment and customs document checks, and compliance with HSSE procedures.
- Regular reporting to all stakeholders.
Module 5: archiving and evaluating documentation
- Evaluating completed operations against the initial objectives.
- Systematically archiving all transport documents and other records relating to mobilisation and demobilisation operations.
