Program Management Professional (PgMP)® is an advanced credential awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It is intended for professionals who lead and oversee the performance of multiple projects aligned with strategic organisational objectives. The PgMP® credential validates your expertise in leading and directing complex programmes and ensuring that the benefits defined by the business are realised.
This intensive 5-day course is rigorously aligned with the 5 PgMP® exam performance domains. It provides comprehensive, integrated mastery of strategic programme management practices essential for leading complex initiatives. The content goes beyond exam preparation, providing the knowledge and skills needed to operate at executive level and apply industry standards to realise strategic benefits.

Objectives
By the end of this course, you will achieve the following learning objectives, aligned with the five PgMP domains:
- align a programme with organisational strategy by assessing feasibility, potential benefits and legal and ethical requirements;
- manage the programme lifecycle from initiation to closure, developing its charter, roadmap and programme management information system (PMIS);
- develop and monitor benefits realisation to ensure value and sustainability after the programme;
- lead stakeholder engagement by managing expectations, negotiating support and maintaining programme visibility;
- establish programme governance by defining standards, key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk escalation processes.

Module 1: strategic programme alignment
- Initial programme assessment by defining objectives, requirements and risks.

- Translating strategic objectives into high-level programme scope statements.
- Developing the work breakdown structure (WBS) to plan and assign programme deliverables.
- Optimising the programme management plan by identifying and levelling resources.
- Managing project-level issues through escalation mechanisms to achieve benefits.
- Executing programme transition and closure, including archiving and handing activities over to the functional organisation.
Module 3: managing benefits realisation
- Developing the benefits realisation plan and its measurement criteria.
- Identifying and capturing synergies and efficiencies throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Developing a sustainment plan to ensure benefits continue after programme completion.
- Monitoring metrics to take corrective action and maintain or improve benefits realisation.
- Developing an operational transition plan to ensure the sustainability of products and benefits.
Module 4: engaging stakeholders
- Identifying stakeholders, including sponsors, and creating a stakeholder matrix.
- Conducting stakeholder analysis to create the engagement plan.
- Negotiating stakeholder support by establishing clear expectations and acceptance criteria.
- Developing and maintaining relationships to improve communication and strengthen programme support.
- Defining and maintaining communication tailored to different stakeholders to secure their support.
Module 5: ensuring governance
- Developing programme management standards and structure: tools, finance and reporting.
- Selecting a governance framework to standardise practices in line with organisational structure.
- Securing approval through stage gate reviews to proceed to the next programme phase.
- Regularly evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor benefits.
- Establishing risk escalation policies and procedures.
- Monitoring the business environment and benefits realisation to ensure strategic alignment.
Module 6: PgMP exam revision
- Presentation of the PgMP exam format: situational, formula-based and other question types.
- Review of key points from the PMBOK® Guide, 7th edition, and the performance domains.
- Exercises and mock exams with corrections and explanations of answers.
- Exam strategies: time management, question-reading techniques and stress management.

Prerequisites
To support effective learning and clarify certification eligibility, this course has two levels of prerequisites:
1. Course prerequisites
- Solid project management experience is essential, including an understanding of integration, risk and governance.
- Practical experience leading or overseeing multiple projects or a programme, even informally, is strongly recommended.
2. PgMP® certification exam prerequisites (defined by PMI®)
Before taking the exam, you must submit an online eligibility application to PMI and obtain approval. Your professional experience must include programme management and meet one of the following requirement sets, accumulated within the last 15 years:
