Red Hat – Configuring High Availability Clusters
Service availability depends on an architecture that can handle failures. Use Red Hat clusters to establish sound configurations and continuity mechanisms before moving into operations. Build the skills to assess scenarios and verify that the solution works as intended.

Accredited training for the Red Hat Certified Architect certification.
Presentation
High availability aims to keep a server or service continuously available and performing effectively. This course teaches you to deploy and manage high availability clusters within an enterprise network. It also prepares you for the Red Hat certification exam in High Availability Clustering (EX436) and the Red Hat Certified Architect certification pathway.
Objectives
This course teaches you to deploy and manage a high availability cluster configuration in an enterprise network. You will gain in-depth knowledge of Red Hat High Availability Add-On, shared storage technologies and storage administration. The course combines theory with extensive practical labs. It also prepares you for the Red Hat exam in Expertise in High Availability Clustering (EX436) and forms part of the Red Hat Certified Architect certification pathway.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Install and configure Red Hat High Availability Add-On.
- Create and manage high availability services.
- Use shared storage (iSCSI) and configure multipathing.
- Configure GFS2 file systems.
- Configure XFS file systems.
- Use Red Hat Storage Server.
Program
Clusters and storage: This opening module provides an overview of storage and clustering technologies.
Configuring iSCSI: Configure and manage Internet Small Computer System Interface to connect data storage systems.
Using udev: Perform basic operations and create udev rules.
Multipathing: Combine multiple paths to SAN devices into a fault-tolerant virtual device.
Red Hat high availability overview: Explore the architecture and technologies within Red Hat High Availability Add-On.
Quorum: Understand quorum and quorum calculations.
Fencing: Understand fencing methods and configurations.
Resources and resource groups: Use rgmanager and configure resources and resource groups.
Advanced resource management: Manage resource dependencies and complex resources.
Two-node cluster considerations: Understand the uses and limitations of two-node clusters.
Administering Logical Volume Manager: Use LVM commands and clustered LVM.
Global File System 2: Understand GFS2 and the tools to create, maintain and troubleshoot it.
XFS: Explore XFS features and the tools required to create, maintain and troubleshoot the file system.
Red Hat Storage: Use Gluster to create and maintain a scale-out storage solution.
Comprehensive review: Apply your knowledge of high availability storage and services.
Audience
Linux system administrators involved in managing shared storage and cluster-based high availability services.
